Head Vet Nurse

Nicole

Meet Nicole! One of our experienced veterinary nurses who has been nursing since 2013 and brings a wealth of knowledge to the Oxley Highway Vets team.

Nicole made the sea-change to Port Macquarie from the chilly Canberra region, where she gained experience working across General Practice, Specialty Surgery and Ophthalmology, as well as Emergency and Critical Care. She has a particular interest in behaviour and feline medicine and is very passionate about low stress handling, always striving to make every vet visit a positive experience for pets, their owners, and our team.

Nicole also has a real thirst for learning and has completed additional studies in behaviour, surgery, emergency care, CPR and many other topics that have sparked her interest along the way.

At home, Nicole is happily “owned” by quite the crew of animals, including Strudel the Boxer, Elf — a deaf, three-legged Kelpie cross, Basil the Tenterfield Terrier puppy, and four cats named Titan, Butter, Panda and Cheezel. Many of them joined the family during her veterinary career, although she insists she has successfully rehomed far more foster kittens than she has kept!

Fun fact: When she’s not at the clinic, Nicole enjoys crocheting and tending to her indoor plants — usually while trying to stop the cats from eating them.
