We've trained hard to be the best in our fields, and we continue to maintain and expand our knowledge and skills at every opportunity. We also strongly believe in mentoring those new to their field, via traineeships and work experience.

Meet Our Team
Dr Jillian Lawrence

Jillian joined our vet team in June 2019. She has been practicing veterinary medicine for the past 8 years and brings a wealth of knowledge to our team that she has accumulated over the years. Growing up on a large property in north west New South Wales, Dr Jillian wanted to be a vet from a young age. As a proud paw-rent to her dog Sasha and a strong interest in small animal medicine, Jillian is sure to provide our furry friends with gentle and exceptional veterinary care.

Lead Vet Nurse

Tammy is our Lead Vet Nurse here at Oxley Highway Vets and has been nursing for 13 years, also spending time in Emergency Animal Centres in Canberra. She has worked at Oxley Highway Vets since 2013 and runs our well-oiled nursing team.

Tammy spends her spare time with her beautiful family including her son, William, her Tonkinese cat, Lulu and her rescue cat, Odin. Tammy has also been a carer with Port Macquarie Animal Welfare and is our biggest advocate for the RSPCA, leading their annual cupcake fundraiser here at the clinic.

When she isn’t busy chasing William around, Tammy enjoys scuba diving, baking and going to the gym.

Don joined the team in November 2016 and is a Certified Level IV Veterinary Nurse. Don has a special interest and aptitude for orthopaedics and surgical nursing. He loves all animals great and small and has a passion for all our wildlife. He has volunteered as a wildlife carer, snake wrangler and is also a carer for our local cat rescue group, Port Macquarie Animal Welfare.

Don’s pets include 12 birds, two guinea pigs, tropical fish, one dog and three cats! When Don is not at work or caring for his many pets he can be found in the great outdoors, photographing anything from an ant to the stars, camping, hiking and generally getting out in the bush. He is also a dedicated husband and father.

Meet Mikayla. Mikayla is one of our wonderful Vet Nurses who joined our team in February 2020. Her interests within the clinic are surgical nursing and dental procedures.

Mikayla’s vision is to one day be a Veterinarian and plans on studying Vet Science in the next few years.

In Mikayla’s spare time she loves to hang out with her German Shepherd, Lily, and ride her thoroughbred horse, Remi. Her other interests include 4WDriving, camping, netball and making horse halters and earrings.

When she is not at work she can be found in the ocean where she feels most at home. Swimming, snorkelling, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding are just a few of the things Natalie loves to do. She enjoys spending time amongst marine life and when on land can’t get enough of dogs!

Her other interests include her tropical fish tank, golf, Mexican food, watching action films and exploring North America.

Trainee Vet Nurse

Jessica is one of our awesome trainee nurses and has been with the Oxley Highway Vets team since January 2018. She is nearing the completion of her Certificate IV in Vet Nursing and will be finishing over the next few months.

Jess’ favourite part of Vet Nursing is looking after the sick hospital patients and helping our clients at the front desk. When Jess is not at the clinic, she can be found at home in the garden where she has a massive collection of succulents, in the kitchen baking delicious treats or spending time with her two rescue Chihuahua’s, Bean and Zombie, as well as her bird, Noodle and her Axolotl, Hiccup.
